Delete your Newlings account and data
You can delete everything Newlings holds about you from inside the app, without contacting us:
- Open the Me tab.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Delete account and data and confirm.
This deletes your learner profile, level, placement answers, saved words and reviews, reading history, feedback, quiz answers, grammar cards, XP and badges, the record of your announcements choice, and your sign-in (anonymous, or the linked Apple or Google account; for Apple, the app also revokes its access to your Apple account). The daily reminder, the evening reminder and announcements stop, and the app returns to the welcome screen. There is no waiting period and the deletion cannot be undone.
Without the app
If you no longer have the app, email hello@newlings.app from the address linked to your account (or describe the device and approximate dates for an anonymous account). We delete the same data within 30 days and confirm by email. The app does not show the id of anonymous progress, so we may not be able to find an anonymous account from these details; deleting in the app is the sure way. A parent or guardian can ask in the same way for a young person's data.
What is kept after deletion: usage statistics and crash reports already sent (only if you allowed them), and the server logs of the app's requests, which are not linked to a name and expire on the schedule in the privacy policy; copies in our database exports until those are deleted, as the privacy policy explains; and the fonts and story pictures cached on your phone, which removing the app clears.
